Last Minute Airfare


Continental Airlines Inc. on Friday said its May traffic rose 6.4 percent, driven by higher capacity.

The company said it flew 8.14 billion revenue passenger miles in May, up from 7.65 billion in the year-ago period. A revenue passenger mile is an industry unit measuring one paying passenger flown last minute airfare one mile.

Domestic traffic rose 8.9 percent, while international traffic increased 7.3 percent, led by a 13 percent rise in trans-Atlantic traffic.

Capacity increased 5.8 percent last minute airfare to 9.98 billion available seat miles, from 9.44 billion in the year-ago period.

Occupancy, or load factor, edged up to 81.5 percent last minute airfare from 81 percent.

Year-to-date, the airline last minute airfare said its traffic increased 5.5 percent as capacity expanded 4.8 percent. Load factor, meanwhile inched up to 80 percent from 79.5 percent, in May 2006 last minute airfare.
